Burnaby Dog Grooming - Bath and Tidy
Puppies, teen dogs and old timers love Burnaby Dog Grooming’s bath and tidy sessions. They love the uninterrupted attention and pampering. We work a mini massage into each shampoo treatment. You can see the appreciation spread across their faces. Drop off your furry friend or relax and wait while they are bathed in luxury. Pets love to interact with other dogs. When you bring your tyke to us, they have an opportunity to socialize in a safe environment. You don’t have to worry about your dog being left in a drying kennel. We hand towel them then use a blow dryer on a cool setting to protect the skin.
Some owners are sticklers and believe that dogs should be cleaned as often as humans. This is definitely not the case. Dogs don’t have sweat glands and therefore don’t need to bathe as often as their human friends. Instead of sweating, dogs pant to cool themselves down. Your furry friend’s skin is thinner than human skin. It is protected by a furry layer. We use a gentle shampoo that moisturizes the skin. The groomers follow up with a rich conditioner that does wonders for the skin and fur. Bathing more than once per month will dry out the skin and fur.
The immediate benefit of a professional shampoo is that your pet looks and feels better. Your furry friend will love all the attention he receives. During the bath and tidy process, groomers are able to inspect for ticks, ear infections, fleas and skin hot spots. If we notice anything worthy of concern, you’ll be informed immediately. It’s important to bathe your pet monthly. Your pet will become accustomed to the process when shampooed regularly. It’s best to begin the process early for the sake of acclimation. Our groomers are skilled enough to work with adolescent and older dogs. Owners are often surprised at how docile their pets are in our hands.
The Process Part 1
Pet owners often comment that they would like a bath and tidy too. That’s how wonderful this service is. A 13 step process is initiated to get your dog clean and smelling good. Consistent praise and soft touch is employed to keep her comfortable. Positive reinforcement is used so that your dog associates reward with grooming. During the pre-bath, a relaxing facial is administered.
The Process Part 2
We dry your pet with a cotton towel, then wrap a ‘happy hoodie’ around his head and neck to keep him calm during the blow drying process. The ‘happy hoodie’ mitigates noise that is normally associated with blow drying. The groomer will gently clean the eye area. Nails are carefully trimmed. When it’s all said and done, we’ll give her a healthy treat as a thank you for her cooperation and as positive reinforcement.
